Seeds hold the blueprint for all plant material on Earth. Without seeds, the birds, bees and creatures on Earth would be without staple foods. Flaxseed contain 27 anti-cancer compounds including protein, fiber, pectin, vitamin E, magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium and sitosterol. Flax is an excellent source of lignans, which when converted in the gut to phytosterols, deactivate potent estrogens and testosterones that contribute to cancer growth. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, flax has a soothing, anti-inflammatory effect on the digestive system. Benefits: heart, brain, skin, hair, arteries.
The seeds can be whole, ground or in oil form (if you use oil form- refrigerate and do NOT heat as it will oxidize and create harmful toxins). I prefer the ground flaxseed. Aim for 2 Tablespoons per day, but start with a smaller amount if you’ve never eaten flax before as it does have a lot of fiber. It’s an inxexpensive, booster food that can be mixed into oatmeal, smoothies, soups, on top of salads, etc. Bob’s Red Mill is a good brand.
Seeds bring life to us all!
